Persisting - Do you sometimes say, "I just can't do this" or "This is too hard"? Do you give up when the answer is not immediately apparent? Persistence means staying the course, taking the time to work at something until you achieve excellence.

Sometimes, even when I know how to do things, it is hard for me to persist on doing all the work. Therefore, sometimes I get points off for not completing the work or being careless since I couldn't be bothered to check. Throughout the semester, it was really hard for me to study because I thought, "if I already know this, then what's the point of studying?". I never persisted through studying and that is why my grades are not as good as I expected. For example, the last problem, because I already know how to do the problems, I got lazy and couldn't be bothered to check if I wrote the right equations; therefore, I wrote I2Sr instead of SrI2. I made many careless mistakes just because I was not persistent since I already knew how to do it. I realized that it is important to be persistent with homework and patience. In order to attain a good grade (full marks if I know how to do the problems), I must be patient and persist in completing my work. Once I learned how to persist, I found the chemistry exam really easy to study for. For other ones, I would struggle through it and also have the trouble of persisting through the work. For example, #2, since there was a (g) instead of a (s), I didn't know how to do it. At first, I was annoyed because I thought, "I can't do this! It's so hard!". However, when I had the patience, I looked back on the packet and realized there are steps on how to do net ionic equations. Because I had persisted in working on that problem, I had solved that problem.
